My dad loves The Stooges. He grew up listening to them because they started out not too far from where he was raised. After a few hours of research I had finally decided I was going to join the online guitar website JamPlay. When I reached the checkout page to enter my credit card info I discovered that there was a spot for a jamplay coupon code. The monthly cost was less then $20 so I didn’t know really how much inexpensive it was going to get but I figured I ought to take a couple of mintues to see what was available. With all the great guitars being made these days it really isn’t all that easy to choose anymore. In the old days you picked a Fender or a Gibson. Now there are many great guitar companies that make entry level up to elite and also serve different niches of music as well. The Ibanez RG350 is one that I’m currently using and totally love it.
The RG350 come with 4 sub models; I’m using the MDX. The RG350MDX is a basswood model that has a maple 3-piece wizard neck. 24 frets are standard on the RG350 as are on most Ibanez RG guitars. The MDX has a maple fretboard as well and is styled with black shark tooth inlays for a really nice contrast. The body color is black with a black pickguard and again looks stellar against the light color of the maple fingerboard.
The sound of the RG series is high gain and that’s where the RG350 is really ahead of the pack. The double humbucker and single coil setup is standard and is perfect for giving you several different variations of pickup combinations. Basswood and high gain pickups lend well to each other so my guess is that Ibanez didn’t do this by mistake.
As was earlier stated, the Ibanez RG350 comes in 4 different sub models and I will go over the other 3 in the near future.

Everything about the Ibanez RG2228 isn’t wonderful — At least, when I got mine. It was badly set up when I got mine. It came from one Steve’s Music store. I actually suspect that the workers there played around with it a little before shipping it to me. This is because they were the first to sell this baby in Canada. So if the bad setup was from employees at the store, then I can’t blame Ibanez.
So, I had to mess around with some adjustments. This took a few hours but when I was done, I was proud with what I got. You get enough space between the frets. This means that you’ll have more difficulty stretching at the very end of the neck. But as a compensation, you will be able to play those sweet high pitch solos a lot more easily.
I guess we really can’t get everything from one guitar which is why we end up having so many guitars. But believe me, that in spite of all I experienced with this guitar, I won’t give it up for anything and would buy another if this one got stolen or damaged.
The neck is very wide but so flat! Really cool. With the longer scale length, the frets have more space between each other, which makes wide finger stretching harder at the end of the neck but also make it easier to play in the higher register for solo. The bass wood body is super light! The tension on the string is just perfectly comfortable.
