A red wine club from Siduri Wines (and their partner Novy for that matter) makes an excellent gift for any wine lover. Siduri is located in the town of Santa Rosa, not often thought of as the center of California wine country, but Siduri has helped start a movement for wineries which purchase all their grapes, to be located in industrial warehouses to keep prices as low as possible. While you might miss out on some of the wine country charm, a tasting appointment is an incredible experience because Siduri crafts red wines (primarily Pinot Noir) from great vineyards all the way down the west coast. As no other stop in Sonoma can you taste wines from Oregon all the way down to Santa Barbara. It’s a truly unique set up and one of the best and most insighftul tasting trips that any serious wine lover is ever likely to take.

It was a gathering of cigar aficionados that would make you look at your cigar humidor and weep. On November 30th, 50 buyers, collectors, and purveyors of cigars spent approximately $390,000 American dollars on various rare cigars from around the world. The auction was labeled as the biggest auction of rare and vintage cigars ever. The clear breakout star of the evening was the Elie Bleu Presidencia Cigar Humidor, which, after several rounds of furious bidding, fetched $37,000. The next cigar humidor to be presented was a humidor made personally for Winston Churchill, signed by his great granddaughter and infamous, deceased Cuban tobacco farmer Alejandro Robaina. It raised $24,000, plus various fees for charity. Overall, their were over 300 different lots sold; however, there were some bargains to be had too. For example, a box of Partagas Presidentes from 2000 sold for only $327.00, which would be a delight to add to anyone’s cigar humidor.

Uncles: don’t blame the Christmas table gas on the Nebbiolo wine (it’ll have to be the dog instead then). A new study published in the British Medical Journal has concluded that drinking alcohol with your Christmas dinner will slow down your digestion. However, age old finger pointing at symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, belching and bloating have nothing to do with drinking.

The Swiss and German researchers fed their subjects cheese fondue with white wine or black tea to measure differences. The fondue was digested in about 9 hours by those who drank the wine, whilst those who drank the tea managed it in only 6 hours. A word of caution for anyone with an aggravating stomach condition such as an acid reflux: the researchers believe that such conditions will only worsen with the application of wine. For the rest of us though, it’s a little piece of mind with your Christmas tipple.

Gourmet coffee is premium. It is made out of selected coffee beans from selected places after a lot of research for its flavour, colour, and acceptability to an elite group of people from different parts o the world. Sometimes people from a different group are also invited to experience the gourmet coffee to fine tune the acceptability and for consistency test. The test normally conducted with the same group also, who has done it once or twice, who gives the report about the consistency. Different flavours also added to the powder sometimes at the time of grinding or after grinding. Some flavours last long, so can be ground with coffee beans, but, some flavours fade away due to its property, and for such flavours, it is added at the time of delivery and an advice also given to the customer to keep it in air tight container to lock the flavour. You can buy gourmet coffee online also after getting the real idea about it from the net.

Different hamper options are available if you are searching for the one perfect gift for a special occasion. You can purchase Hampers UK at local or online stores or make them at home. Some gift baskets are especially designed for the Christmas season. Common contents of this type of gift include traditional holiday foods and wine. They also come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with the larger ones enough to fit virtually everything needed for the midnight Christmas meal. Meanwhile, smaller wicker baskets can contain chutney, seasonal condiments, jams, pastries, and cookies. As an alternative to Christmas-related goodies, some hampers are based on alcoholic or soft drinks, such as sparkling wines, champagne, whiskies, and specialist soft drinks. Food hampers and gift baskets are also popular, which may contain a range of different types of cheeses, gourmet specialties, chocolates, cookies and biscuits, fresh fruits, died fruits and nuts, and luxury regional foods. Meanwhile, you may also find hamper baskets themed according to the dietary needs of a person, like diabetic hampers and vegetarian hampers.

After the festivities, gifts and gift boxes are stored away if not used. Oftentimes, the edible gift items we receive are immediately consumed and the Christmas Hampers that they come in with can be re-used. However, before using or recycling the hampers, it is important to clean them up. Food residue can cause molds and unwanted bacteria to thrive and contaminate other food items that you will be putting in it in the future. To thoroughly clean your hampers, several cleaning agents can be used. These include vinegar or lemon juice for their acidic property, baking soda to help eliminate odors, salt as an abrasive agent and, of course, water. A vacuum cleaner or soft brushes and sponges can also come in handy. This procedure can be used on both natural and synthetic materials. It would only vary on the application of pressure when cleaning. First, vacuum the insides of the hamper, making sure no dirt or food residue is left. Then mildly clean the insides with the sponge that is dipped in a pasty baking soda and water solution. Then clean the outside portion of the hamper. Use vinegar or lemon juice only if there are stains that can not be simply removed by the sponge. After this process, let the hamper air dry for a while. Put it in a well ventilated area, preferably on the porch or just outside your house. After this process, you can start using the Christmas hamper again. However, before you do, check if any part of the hamper, like the screws or woven fabric, is damaged. Immediately repair this before you proceed into using it again.
